Design Prize Switzerland: awards for outstanding achievements in the textile and fashion industries

The Design Prize Switzerland was presented in Langenthal on Friday, 30 October 2015. Four prizes went to products and services in the textile and fashion industries. The “Swiss Textiles, Prize for Young Fashion and Textile Entrepreneurs” was won by the “huber egloff” start-up company. more


Swiss Textiles and Empa launch a joint research initiative

On the occasion of Techtextil in Frankfurt, the leading International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Non-Woven Fabrics, Swiss Textiles and the Federal Materials Testing and Research Establishment Empa launched the joint “Subitex: Sustainable Biomedicine Textiles” research initiative. This initiative is intended to enable innovations to be brought to market more rapidly. Cooperation between the Swiss textile industry and other branches is also to be strengthened through this project. more


Swiss innovations as solutions to global challenges

At its annual media conference held on 28 April 2015 at Swisslastic AG in Wald (ZH), Swiss Textiles reported on the progress of business in 2014. Although added value had fallen slightly overall the branch still achieved export growth of 4.6% for textiles. The trend for the current year remains uncertain. The abolition of the exchange rate peg against the euro brought a massive deterioration of international competitiveness in a matter of minutes. Despite the challenging economic environment the member companies have remained successful on the world market thanks to innovations. Today the Federation issued a publication about textile applications as a response to global challenges. more
