Services: Workplace safety and protection of health

In accordance with Swiss legislation, employers are responsible for workplace safety and the protection of their employees’ health. This responsibility applies at all management levels. We therefore recommend that companies give very high priority to safety at the workplace. In 2014, Swiss Textiles signed up to the SUVA Safety Charta, which is also open to companies individually.

“Safety and health protection in Switzerland’s textiles and clothing industry”: a solution for the entire sector

For the implementation of Federal Coordinating Committee for Industrial Safety 1996 Directive No. 6508 concerning the incorporation of occupational physicians and other specialists in workplace safety, Swiss Textiles developed a solution for the entire sector. This solution, “Safety and health protection in the Swiss textiles and clothing industry”, was approved by the Coordinating Committee in mid-October 1997, is constantly being updated to reflect the latest developments, and was re-assessed and re-certified in April 2012 in accordance with the specifications of the Coordinating Committee. The current certificate is valid until 30 April 2017.

Our solution is divided into a general section for all member companies, and a section geared specifically to the production stage as follows:

  • Spinning
  • Knitting / hosiery
  • Twining
  • Weaving, including ribbon weaving
  • Embroidery
  • Carpet manufacture
  • Textile finishing
  • Laundry
  • Rope making
  • Clothing manufacture

This service, which is provided free of charge, greatly simplifies the implementation of Directive No. 6508 for our member companies. The solution is available as a CD.

Industry solution for non-members

Non-members are also able to benefit from our industry solution, which we are pleased to supply in return for an annual fee.
