Alexander Wang
Alexander Wang (www.alexanderwang.com) was born in San Francisco (USA) and studied at the Parson Design School in New York. Since 2007 he has been showing his latest collections at New York Fashion Week with growing popularity. He was praised from the outset as a boy wonder and soon joined the top ranks of New York designers. Despite his meteoric rise to fame, he has lost none of his carefree youthful attitudes. He has no problem for instance in combining dazzling party garments with grunge fashion. His collections include short cut tops and jogging trousers which are worn with incredibly high platform shoes or sportswear with classical suits. Wang’s creations often show a touch of impertinent irony. Not for nothing is he one of the favourite designers of partygoers like Kate Moss, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox and Mary-Kate Olsen. Last year he won the Vogue CFDA Fund Prize and at the beginning of this year he was presented with the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers in America) Award as the «Women’s Wear Newcomer».

Last year’s winners Rodarte showed their 2010 summer collection
Last year’s Swiss Textiles Award winner, the label Rodarte (from the sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy) showed their 2010 summer collection, illustrating their creative development during the year since they won the prize.

Isabel Toledo as special guests and fan of the poetical Swiss textiles
Isabel Toledo has bee a special guest for the evening. She was also a jury member. This designer of Cuban origin has been creating garments for twenty years. One reason for her fame is that Michelle Obama wears her dresses: for instance a mustard yellow dress on the day of her husband Barack Obama’s inauguration – made using guipure embroidery by the Swiss Forster Rohner company.
